Tales of Kaimere

Short Stories by Keenan Taylor

Hello!

Keenan here. Over the past year I have been working on a 7-part collection of short stories set in Kaimere, a low-magic fantasy world of my own design. Each of these are stand-alone stories that follow characters throughout the world, from the northern reaches of the Dolani steppes and the heart of the Chakhat Empire, to the southernmost islands inhabited by the Lutzkarl whalers and the dense rainforests of Pakardia.

So far I have published the first two stories, with the third well on the way!

Cheers, folks!

The cover for my first short story, Death Walks on Broken Wings: "A ravenous and sadistic creature named Vaskalamaldus the Raven King has taken to rampaging through the Qajarith forest country. As Qajar is tied up in a long, brutal war, the Senate cannot spare forces to deal with a beast in the rural towns in the far north. The monster is unchecked. Now he kills for pleasure. Tsingus the Carpenter lost his family to the latest attack. Revenge consumes his thoughts. Hope for retribution comes in an unlikely ally, and Tsingus joins several other loggers in a desperate quest: end the reign of the Raven King." Cheers, folks! -Keenan

Hey, folks! I finally published my second short story, Fire in the Shadows! The second entry in the Tales of Kaimere short story collection, Fire in the Shadows follows Sima, dutiful daughter of the Chief Imperial Magistrate of Zardin. " A boy named Eki has gone missing over the wall, presumed taken by one of the many dangers that haunt the unforgiving frontier, and Sima’s father isn’t willing to risk the lives that would surely be lost in trying to rescue the boy. Sima decides to take matters into her own hands. She and her friend Teila seek out Khaldin, a greedy truffle hunter who happens to be one of the few fools bold enough to regularly venture beyond the wall, hoping to enlist his aid in saving the child from certain death out on the harsh frontier. " Cheers, folks! Hope you like it! -Keenan

"Trickster’s Gambit, the third instalment in the Tales of Kaimere short story collection, takes readers to the cold rainforests of Pakardia. Ja’Kosi is a young storyteller. She has been accused of murder, but as there are no witnesses, she must endure three days alone in the forest. If Ja’Kosi survives, the spirits have judged her innocent. Should she die, her guilt is considered proven. Although Ja’Kosi thinks there is little truth to the stories of woodland spirits and twisted demons, three days is a long time to be alone with nothing but yourself and a few stories…"
